Hi, my name is Dobby and my foster mom keeps asking me if I want a sock … what’s up with that? Anyway, I am about one and a half years old and I was surrendered to the shelter by former owners. They said it was because I was too shy but my foster mom thinks it was because I had heartworms. I have gone through my treatment and I am ready to find my forever home. I am a little shy at first but I have learned that snuggling on the couch is my favorite activity. I am crate trained, potty trained and I know how to use a dog door. I get along well with my foster brothers and sisters of all size. Loud noises tend to scare me still. I would do better in a home with older children and I could be an only dog or happy with a fur brother or sister. My mom says I have the sweetest eyes and my coat feels soft as velvet. I would love to meet my new forever family. If that is you, please email

**Because we require home visits, we only adopt locally to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. For more on adoption policies, please see the Adopt page of our website,

About Habitat 4 Paws

About Our Rescue Group...

The mission of H4P is to rescue and find permanent homes for dogs and cats while caring for them in a volunteer-staffed facility and foster program. We are currently raising funds for a building and in the interim are a foster based group.

Beyond just sheltering animals, we are proactive in other areas that will help keep animals out of municipal shelters. Paws Pantry animal-food bank collects and distributes dog and cat food to those in need. H4P hosts microchip clinics so that animals will have a permanent ID and can be reunited with their owners.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Nearly every weekend our pets that are ready for adoption are featured at locations such as Petsmart, Pet Supplies Plus and other locations. We can also arrange visits throughout the week. Check out the Events page of our website for a current schedule of events:

Our Adoption Process...

Dogs are $200
Puppies under 1 year are $250
Cats and kittens are $120

All animals have been spayed/neutered, received age appropriate vaccinations, had a heart-worm test, a Feline Leukemia test and a fecal check and are dewormed, microchipped and current on heart-worm and flea preventative medications at the time of adoption.

Adopters must be 21 and have a valid Texas driver’s license or a state-issued ID that matches the home address. If new to the area, a utility bill in the name of adopter will suffice. Renters must present proof of pet deposit or landlord approval to have a pet.

We require that you visit with a pet and adoption counselor. We prefer that all family members be present when the pet is introduced to its potential new family. Current pets are welcomed and encouraged to be part of the meeting too.

If a good match is found, adopters complete an application. Same day adoptions may be done; however, Habitat 4 Paws reserves the right to request a home visit prior to adoption. We do not hold pets nor do we adopt on a first-come/first-serve basis.
