You''ve struck gold! If you are looking for a sweet, über-social, affectionate, snuggly, companionable dog, look no further. Sherman is the definition of resilience; he was taken into the Oakland shelter at 3-months-old and lived there until we transferred him to Santa Cruz. By then, he had been in the Shelter for over 5 months. He got adopted quickly and then came back to us (along with his `sister`) recently when the life circumstances of his adopter took them all down a less than ideal path. Sherman had a very hard time being back in the kennel; it was confusing and stressful and just one too many kennel stays for a sensitive guy like him. He is currently back in his previous foster home living with 5 other dogs of varying ages and sizes and loving every minute of being part of a family. He seems especially fond of the senior female pittie in the home (who could care less about him) but gets along well with all of them and even takes everything the 12 lb. house dominatrix dishes out without so much as raising a lip. He adores the pack''s daily romp in the redwoods and is quite civilized on leash, too. He has spent a time or two at the local brewery with his foster dad and settled in like a natural.

Sherman is reliably housetrained offered proper access to the outdoors. Given his background, we want Sherman to find a stable, lifelong home full of love (of course) but also one that won''t leave him alone for hours on end. Given his fair complexion and propensity to feel abandoned when left outdoors, he should always be allowed access to the home when left without human company. His favorite place is right up next to you, day or night (although he can do his own thing, too) so we will give priority to those enlightened adopters that allow their dogs to sleep in bed with them. :)
