Rusty came to CARS back in June from a neglect case in Texas. His brother Steele was healthier and adopted quickly. Rusty on the other hand has been on medical hold with mange, malnutrition, mats so bad his coat had to be shaved, and heartworm treatments. He's now on the mend, has a gorgeous new coat and looking for his new forever home.
This beautiful red tri 5-year-old is just about the lovingest Aussie there is around people. He loves to snuggle in as close as he can and just be with his family. He's completely housebroken, crate trained, and not destructive in the house. Rusty is not a very hyper boy - about medium energy - so enjoys his walks and play sessions and then is perfectly fine settling in for some couch time. He's usually quietly nearby observing everything around him. Rusty is eager to please and loves to dance with his "happy feet" when he knows he's been a good boy. He thrives on positive enforcement.
While Rusty has accepted his foster fur siblings, he is best as an only animal. He can be very assertive and very slow (at least a week) to accept new canine friends. He just knows he's the rock star and doesn't want to share the fame and fortune. He also has a high focus drive with smaller animals like cats and chickens. He's been around kids of various ages, but we recommend older children due to his past.
Rusty is up to date on vaccinations (rabies, distemper/parvo, bordetella), microchipped, treated for heartworms and on preventative. He is being fostered in the St Louis area.
