My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*****Adoption Pending*****

BENTLEY- Male, Border Collie mix, 10 mos, approx. 40 lbs

Bentley is just your sweet average playful border collie! He is high energy and loves to be close to his humans. He could play all day! He needs coaxing to go into his crate at night, but once he's in he sleeps well through the night. He is great with other dogs and respectful of bigger dogs! He does have some food guarding issues though so he would need to be fed and given treats separately. He has no food issues with people, he takes treats like an absolute gentleman. His foster mom is working on his walking as he is young and is in a hurry to get everywhere. We recommend a harness until he is leash trained so he doesn't choke himself. He is currently learning clicker training and he is doing very well with that. He has mastered 'sit' and working on 'down' and 'shake a paw'. He is incredibly affectionate and loyal. He would make any family a wonderful companion!

Update from Bentley's foster mom: "Turns out he is a professional grade fetch player! He could go all day! His walking is improving immensely! Still a bit of pulling here and there, but loose leash for 90% of the walk. He is slightly traffic skiddish! He is getting much better at going into his crate, and is starting to learn that there are times to relax, just like there are times to be crazy and play! I think he would benefit from structured obedience classes, but he is super easy to train and curious to learn about everything! Oh and he is great at entertaining himself if need be! Whenever I'm cooking or something, just give him a toy and he knows what to do!"

Update from Bentley's foster mom: "Update: He is doing great at learning his sit, stay, and drop it! And he has gotten much better at appropriately interacting with his foster brother. He had gotten a little jumpy this week, so we are working on it, but I wouldn't recommend he be around too small of children. He is also getting much better at respecting the door, and being able to be left alone for longer periods of time without bothering anything. Becoming quite the young gentleman!"
