My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

March 6th: Chip's adopters are absolutely heartbroken as he is no longer getting along with their big dog! His adopter is a professional dog trainer and so there is no cure, other than to re-home him to a loving family without a big pup! The good news is he does excellent with all dogs his size or smaller! AND cats! If you would like to meet Chip and see if it's a truly perfect fit, please drop us an email and we will send you our Dog Adoption Application and then make arrangements for a meet/greet!

Chip is approx. 2 years old and 14 lbs. He was found homeless, abandoned and wandering in West Sacramento. Whomever owned him, did not bother to come find him at the shelter and he was put on the rescue only list meaning: only a charity such as ours, could save his life! This was due to Chip being horribly afraid while inside of the shelter and failing the shelter's adoptability tests.

Well, we got him out of there back in the fall of 2016, and he'd been in a foster home and training program for the last three months and is doing wonderful! (Other than the big dog issues!) He has mastered many things including being housetrained, walking out and about on leash and he even does tricks now, such as spinning around in fast circles! He is SUCH a darling little guy with his big eyes and cute underbite!

His ideal forever home would be with a single gal without any other animals (although he does fine with other small dogs, but longs to be THE one apple of a person's eye!) or frequent visitors/guests to the home, especially, and no children, as their energy can be quite perplexing to Chip.

Are you willing to give Chip a chance to show his true and wonderful personality in a peaceful, calming, loving forever home environment? If so, please text (916) 303-0334 or email shpssac@yahoo.com and we'll send you our Dog Adoption Application. PLEASE NOTE: we do not keep animals overnight at Shelter Hope Sacramento and are only open some Fridays-Sundays, 12 to 8 p.m.
