Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Buddy was adopted last week and while the couple loved him and he managed to adjust to the 7 cats in the home, he was just too strong and exuberant for his older owners, so he came back so the Shelter so we can find him a home with lots of room to run and a person able to handle a large (75 lb. dog). They did tell us he loves the dog park and had a blast run and playing there. He bonded with the couple quickly and was very devoted to them.
Buddy is such a good boy. It would be hard to find a nicer or more well-behaved dog. Buddy was adopted from a shelter in CT by a family that had another dog. Unfortunately, their dog kept beating up Buddy, so he came to the Medfield Shelter to find a more suitable home. He is sweet, friendly, affectionate, playful and very smart. It is hard to tell from the picture, but he weighs approximately 75 lbs. We used him for a recent class to teach volunteers how to get the dogs to wait calmly when they are let out of their kennels and Buddy figured out right away what was expected of him. He also knows commands such as Sit and Kennel Up. We don't know what his breed mix is although we are guessing Lab/Boxer mix. He is approximately four years old. He was perfectly behaved for the vet and loves all of our volunteers. His adoption fee is $150.
If you are interested in adopting a dog, please fill out our dog adoption application here: http://medfieldshelter.com/adopt. Every dog we place is vaccinated, wormed, treated for ticks/fleas, and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. We send each dog home with a collar and leash and a month's worth of heartworm preventative.
With very few exceptions, dogs are happiest and the most well-behaved when they receive daily exercise and ongoing training, so we always prefer to place our dogs with families who are willing to make a commitment to both.
All adoption meetings are by appointment only as we only have one employee. Our manager or one of our volunteers will be happy to set up an appointment for you to come meet the pets, but please fill out the adoption application first.
