Hello, I'm Sushi. I'm a 4-year-old Siamese cat, and I'm looking for my forever home. I originally lived with an older lady, but she wasn't able to take care of me anymore. I'm very affectionate, especially if I can sit in your lap, and I get along with most other animals. Do you have a quiet corner for me?

About Greater Huntsville Humane Society

About Our Shelter...

The Greater Huntsville Humane Society (GHHS) is dedicated to furthering the humane care and treatment of animals and providing adoption services for the unwanted and homeless.

GHHS was established more than 40 years ago is a 501(c)3 no-kill Shelter. Operationally, GHHS is ran by many volunteers, staff, executive and development directors and a governing body of Board of Directors still dedicated to the mission and goals set over 40 years ago. GHHS is financially supported by private generous donors, the Huntsville community, grants and local and national corporate sponsorships.

GHHS's main goal is to help find homes for at least 500 pets or more each year and remain committed to furthering the humane treatment, education and respect for animals.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Come visit our facility at 2812 Johnson Road, Huntsville AL 35805. We are open Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Adoptions stop at 4 p.m.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process is thorough and fair for both the family and the animal.

If you rent, we will call your landlord to verify a pet deposit. If you have current or past animals, we call your vet to verify they have vaccinations and are spayed/neutered. If adopting a dog, we ask that you bring any current dogs to meet the potential adopter at the shelter site. Some dog breeds may require a home inspection to verify proper fencing and environment.
