My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FOSTER LOCATION: Caldwell, ID

Stewart is a 10 month old male terrier mix. He is a compact guy weighing in around 7 lbs. He is a medium activity level and will need regular exercise including at least one very good walk a day (2 would be better) and a game of Frisbee or any kind of fetching game. He loves the company of another dog to play with and would best with another one in the household to play with. We don’t know how he is with cats, but with a dog savvy Cat and proper introduction he should do fine.

Stewart is great on leash and pulls only out of excitement and after he finds his stride calmly walks beside you. Stewart would be a great hiking partner as he loves to be outside with his human. Stewart will need continued socialization to be a balanced and easy going dog. Stewart is sweet and loving and a real funny silly boy. He loves to cuddle and watch movies with you at the end of the day and get belly rubs.

Stewart will sit for a treat and knows how to take it gently. Stewart needs to learn not to jump up out of excitement as most pups his age do. He still wants to mouth but will stop this behavior with verbal correction and praise for doing so. Stewart is a smart boy and could learn just about anything you are willing to teach him as he is food and positive praise motivated.
Stewart is housetrained with a doggie door, if no dog door then he does need someone to let him out on a regular basis. He is still young and needs to have positive reinforcement with this. He hasn’t had one accident in the house with this method. Stewart is crate trained and sleeps in his crate all night without a peep.

Stewart would do well in a home with kids over the age of 10 that understand how to treat a dog his size and who won’t freak out if Stewart jumps on them or puts his mouth on them.

A family that has someone home on and off during the day would be great for Stewart or a retired couple looking for a young active dog to make part of their daily walks and traveling. Stewart loves to go for a ride in the car.

Stewart has been microchipped, neutered and is current on all his shots.

Stewart’s adoption fee is $100
