This handsome wonderful, smart fellow is Bert who was rescued with his brother Ernie last year from a construction site in East Atlanta. He is neutered, fully vetted, and WAS heartworm negative at the time he was initially adopted to what we thought was a good permanent home. The family who had adopted Bert did not provide heartworm preventative and Bert and his brother both got heartworms. They dumped Bert back on AWHAR rather than even see him through treatment.

Through A Welcome Home Animal Rescue, he completed his treatment in October 2016 and is healthy and fully vetted. Unfortunately, all of our fosters are full and he needs permanent home ASAP. We only have 2 weeks to find him a home or at least another foster!!

Bert is around 60 Ibs. His white and gray color and regal face make him quite the looker. He is a bit shy at first, but he warms up and bonds VERY quickly. He is very sweet and calm. He loves going on walks. Bert knows commands like “sit”, “shake”, “lay down”, “give it”, and “give kiss”.

He loves to curl up next you. He is a very affectionate dog who likes cuddling up with people.

He lived with a family and 3 kids and is great with people and most dogs. He is housebroken and very obedient. He is crate trained and walks well on a leash. He knows some commands and loves to show off what he knows for a treat. He listens very well. He is great with kids. Bert would prefer a home without any cats, please.

If you can adopt please contact us. Janet-hart@aem-net.com or 404-520-1060. We are in desperate need for a home for this handsome guy!!

About A Wecome Home Animal Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

A Welcome Home Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit created to help the homeless, hurt and/or abandoned animals. Our end goal is to place each animal in a permanent, loving home where all their needs will be met. We believe every animal deserves humane treatment. We believe in our role as caretakers, protecting those who cannot defend themselves, speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Because we are not a shelter, do not have a boarding facility, and are not connected with any other agency, we always welcome foster homes where animals can stay temporarily. We also welcome all tax-deductible donations from individuals or foundations.
No donation is too small.

Our Adoption Process...

To Do All We Can to Aid in the Rescue, Safety and Welfare of Stray and Abandoned Animals to end as much suffering as possible.

We realize we cannot save the world … but we can try by working with each rescued animal on an individual basis.
