Lance was surrendered with a male cagemate. We were told the two came from separate homes as a result of displacement from Superstorm Sandy. Their last owner said she was able to eventually bond the boys, but as we know from past experience, difficult bonds are very easily broken. Lance killed his cagemate soon after their surrender. It is also for this very reason why we strongly advocate keeping only one gender of chinchilla in a home. The boys simply could not tolerate the temptation of girls under the same roof. (Chinchillas can and do know when a female is in heat, even through closed doors and separate areas of a house). Because of Lance's aggressive past, we are not willing to try to bond him with another chin. He is perfectly friendly and interactive towards people, however, and would make a great pet for someone who wants just one chinchilla.
Lance is beige, complete with ear freckles. He is approximately 3-5 years old.
