Meet Sadie! This older lady was an owner surrender because her person lost her home. Sadie is about 10-12 years old, heartworm negative, spayed, current on vaccines and fat as a pig. She is on a diet to try and get her weight under control but gracious, she is very, very chubby. Sadie lived with 2 other small dogs (both under 15 pounds) and was great with them. She also lived with a cat! She seems to dislike dogs her size or larger and can be a crotchety bossy lady with larger dogs. We suspect she has an alpha streak in her and as long as dogs learn that she had earned the right to be the boss, she is fine. She is also good with older puppies probably because they submit to her automatically since she is an adult. Sadie has some vision issues due to a cataract in one eye and certainly seems to be completely deaf - or she may just be ignoring us. Ha! She sleeps like she is in a coma and loves a cushy bed for her old fat self. Sadie has some old lady fatty tumors on her that are harmless and our vet recommended not taking them off simply because of the risk of anesthesia at her age. If you are a fan of the seniors or are looking for a dog that is zero maintenance and is perfectly content to waddle around your house for minutes and then sleep for hours, Sadie is your girl!

About Carroll County Humane Society

About Our Shelter...

The Carroll County Humane Society is a NO-KILL Animal Shelter in McKenzie, West Tennessee. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, with funding coming entirely from private contributions, fundraising and grants. We care for approximately 250 animals at one time in a building we've purchased and in foster homes. Our goal is to utilize Adoption and Spay/Neuter as our community's animal population control - not euthanasia. We hope to insure that all companion animals have a warm, safe, loving home and to assist and educate the public about proper pet care. We also give shelter to abused animals while assisting law enforcement to prosecute their abusers.
