Hau’oli is a male border collie mix and weighs about 35 pounds. Here is what the volunteers in Hawaii say about him—
“Hau’oli is a loving, attentive, and excitable dog. He enjoys being out in the yard, spending time with people or in the company of other dogs. He has decent manners, though sometimes his excitement causes him to appear a bit overwhelming, and he performed very well when placed with other animals. He did not make determined attempts to prove his dominance, and was not purposely pushy, though his desire to play may have annoyed some of the more mellow dogs. He showed little interest in an object/toy, more excited to interact with his handler, and showed no aggression with food. He enjoys being pet and handled, and sometimes grew playfully excited by it, however he recovered relatively quickly. He does pull some on the leash, though not so much that it is hard to manage. Once corrected on the leash, he learns to respond quickly to correction, but definitely needs the training. Hau’oli has been known to be a jumper in the play yards when left unattended, so maybe a playmate would suit him well to keep him busy. The best home for Hau’oli would be a very active household with owners capable of maintaining calm and order. Access to both indoors and outdoors (Such as a large fenced in yard) would be beneficial to Hau’oli by giving him many opportunities for outdoor play. His owners should also put forth effort to spend lots of time with him, working on bonding as well as giving him lots of opportunity to get out some of his pent up energy. Training classes are always a good idea as they reinforce the good behavior and teach him new behaviors that will better him overall. Training classes would keep him properly socialized with other dogs and people and help aid in him leash walking manners, etc. He is a wonderful and loving dog who needs a family willing to work with and love him back.”Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.
