Who says just because I’m blind, I’m handicapped?? Once I learn my surroundings, I can get around almost as good as a sighted dog. The only thing you have to do is give me some warning that you are near by calling my name and letting me smell your hand and then you can pick me up. I love to be in a lap, that’s my all-time favorite place to be. I have my favorite blanket that I’d like to bring with me and my bed too, when you adopt me. I’m very happy laying in that by the hour snoozing away. I’m very low-key unless another dog stirs me up then I do have to defend myself. I would be great by myself or with another dog or two. Foster mom has several and I’m fine with it.
I do love my food and yours if you’d let me but they tell me that’s a big no-no!
I walk great on a leash and I would be fine in a crate or gated off in a room while you are at work or play. I’m not a barker so I’d be great in an apartment with an older or established couple.
Would you give me a home…a forever home? I don’t want to be homeless again….
=============== Information for all dogs/adopters ==============
If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 Fee added for the required Health Certificate.
We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI, NH or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please visit the Adoption Information. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your 'new friend' get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
Your message has been sent to All American Dachshund Rescue.
You'll receive a copy, too, at to help you keep track of which pets you've inquired about, and which shelters and rescues you've emailed.
NOTE: Some shelters have physical locations you can visit; some of these shelters may only have pets for a limited time, so please do not wait for a reply—just go visit the shelter! Other organizations are rescue groups run by busy volunteers who may take a while to reply. You can find information about the shelter or rescue group caring for this pet, and their adoption procedures, on the pet's details page on Adopt-a-Pet.com.
