Charlie is a 45 pound Golden mix adopted from the shelter. His family only had him for 3 weeks when he ran out the front door to greet his girl. The brakes on the school bus spooked him, he ran off and they couldn’t catch him.  He was gone for 24 hours when someone found him and called.  Both front paws were badly injured.  The emergency vet said that it looked like he was clipped by a car, and pulled away, cutting his paws all the way through to the tendons. Unable to afford his extensive medical bills, the family surrendered Charlie to AGR.

Please note: it is the policy of AGR not to place a dog under 3 years of age with a family that has children under 3 years of age.

Prior to adoption, all AGR dogs are given a full vet exam, including valley fever and heartworm tests, brought up to date on all vaccinations, given a microchip, neutered or spayed, and treated for any medical problems.

About Arizona Golden Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Arizona Golden Rescue is an all-volunteer, non-profit, charitable organization whose mission is to rescue displaced Golden Retrievers and mostly-Golden mixes that may have been abused, abandoned, neglected or unwanted or surrendered by their owners due to previously unforeseen circumstances, and find new, permanent homes for them. Rescued dogs are given a complete veterinary exam and their vaccines are updated; they are also microchipped, spayed or neutered, and tested for valley fever and heartworm. AGR provides emotional and medical rehabilitation and will pay for medications and for necessary surgeries. Through education at public appearances, AGR seeks to educate the public about the Golden Retriever breed and about responsible dog ownership, in order to help reduce the unwanted dog population.

Our Adoption Process...

Please note that all adoptable dogs remain on the website until their adoptions are finalized. As hard as we try to screen the adoptable dogs and their new potential "Forever Home", there is always the possibility that the FWITA (Foster With Intent To Adopt) and the adoptable dog are not compatible and then the dog would return to adoptable status"

Application must be submitted; can be downloaded from website. Home evaluation is done. Once approved, applicant must wait for placement of dog. If fostering with intent to adopt, applicant must pay membership fee (minimum $25 for single, $40 for household) and dog's adoption fee, which ranges from $350 for 0-2-year-old, to $325 for 2-5, $300 for 5- 9 and $250 for over 9. Organization covers all vet costs while dog is in foster care and until adoption is finalized.
