Olive is a female hedgehog who is about 1 year old, born in approximately October 2015. Olive is a typical hedgehog and will allow you to hold her, but she is wiggly and prefers the comfort of her habitat. She definitely does need human interaction though. When Olive was rescued, she was covered in mites and was under weight. She has since been treated and has improved greatly in health. Olive was only fed cat food before she was rescued. We are trying to adjust Olive to hedgehog food, although it has been a struggle since she grew up on cat food. Hedgehogs are insectivores, so Olive’s favorite treat are mealworms. Since hedgehogs are insectivores, they do have a distinct smell. Olive needs a wheel for exercise and a house to hide in. We will provide proof of veterinarian examination, any/all other vet records under our care, and an information/care guide. Hedgehogs need to be between 75 – 85 degrees F and cannot be in direct sunlight. It is extremely important that their living space does not get below 75 degrees. Olive will need a very large cage to give her space to be active. A critter nation is recommended. She can also be given outdoor supervised playpen time in the shade during the summertime.
Average Lifespan: 4 - 6 years.
Activity Time: Nocturnal meaning they are most likely to be active during the night.
Grooming: Bathing once every 1-2 months with Aveeno Oatmeal Powder. Nail trimming when necessary.
Adoption Fee: $90
