Hey there! My name is McKenna! In my former days, I was known as Georgie. I was tied outside, used for breeding, and had a severe case of heartworms. However, I'm a different lady now! I am the sweetest dog you will ever meet. I get along great with cats, dogs, little humans, you name it! If you stop by the shelter, you may find me following one of the caregivers around or I'll meet you at the door and say hello! Now that I know what love really is, I can't get enough of it! When the caregivers are sitting down at the desk, I'll come over and lift their arm up so that I get some love. They don't mind because they love me either way. Will you come to the shelter, rub my belly, and take me to your home so that I can love you too?

About TLC Humane Society

About Our Shelter...

Established in 1977, TLC is one of the oldest no-kill shelters in North Georgia. Our shelter is on about six acres near the Lumpkin County shelter, and about five miles east of Dahlonega. Our focus is saving as many homeless pets as we can, and preventing the birth of unwanted pets. We have always relied on private donations to care for as many animals as we can.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We do adoptions on the square in Dahlonega most weekends, attend various local events, have annual fundraisers, and our animals can be seen at the shelter any day from 10:00 - 4:30 (an hour for lunch from 12:00-1:00). Come by and see the new changes at the shelter as well, ask to volunteer, or just introduce yourself and meet the wonderful staff members.

Our Adoption Process...

All of our animals are spayed or neutered, up-to-date on shots, dewormed, and microchipped before adoption. The adoption requirements and fees vary with the animal.
