Teagan or 'Teag' was originally adopted out as a tiny 8-week pup from DAS in February 2016 to an older gentlemen who can no longer care for him so a kind neighbor agreed to help the pup find a new home and foster him. Teagan appears to be a lab or pointer mix, is a lean 50 pounds, and all legs. Teagan is a healthy, fully vetted, neutered, super sweet, goofy, social, high energy boy who is only 10 months old so he still acts like a puppy.
He currently lives with three adult dogs of varying age and gets along well with everyone although sometimes the other dogs get tired of his playful behavior and puppy antics. He plays rough and can be rambunctious so he would be better suited for a family with big kids. Teagan seems to enjoy being part of a 'gang' and is learning from the other dogs in his foster home what is appropriate pet behavior but he would also do well as the only pup in a family because he is affectionate and loves to be the center of attention. His beautiful short coat is low maintenance, shiny, and soft and does not shed very much.
Because of his high energy, he would do best with an active family, someone willing to walk him or take him jogging on a daily basis, and a fenced yard or trips to the dog park. He enjoys car rides and is well behaved when riding. He also enjoys spending time with his human even if just hanging out and watching tv. Teagan knows 'sit' and is working on leash skills and crate/house training. Considering that he spent most of his life living outside, he is a quick study and has made great progress in a short time in learning how to be an inside dog and part of a family.
If left unsupervised and uncrated, he needs toys and chew treats for strong chewers to keep him entertained and out of mischief. He's a professional cuddler and prefers to sleep in his foster mom's bed at night but probably could be coaxed into sleeping on a doggie bed next to his human's bed if necessary. He sleeps soundly through the night until his human gets up in the morning. Overall, he is a great dog.
If you feel your home might be the right place for this wonderful dog, the place to start is with the adoption application found at www.dfwrescueme.org/adopt. Once submitted, the foster will contact you to tell you more, and to arrange a meeting! The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $250.00, which includes their vaccinations and spay/neuter.
Teagan is participating in the DFW Rescue Me Guest Dog Program, so custody and ongoing care are provided by the foster, not by DFWRM.
