Interested in adoption? The first step is an application at www.paddyspaws.blogspot.com. Please do not apply if pets in the home are not up to date per our website requirements or are not altered. Wisconsin applications are priority, but Illinois applications will be considered if not small children (under 8) are present in the home, the home is owned, and excellent vet references can be provided. We cannot process applications from other states.
Meet Kevin! He is currently living in a foster home in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin.
Kevin is a wonderful dog, looking for an equally wonderful home!
He has excellent house manners and is laid back with pretty mellow energy. He is gentle and sweet natured towards people and has greeted human visitors completely appropriately. Kevin is very, very responsive and sensitive to verbal and body language cues from people. He is super obedient, waits to be given permission to go through the gated or door areas until you give him a signal. He constantly looks at your face to gauge what you want from him and if he is acting acceptable. He needs someone who will help him know that he is safe and an owner who will provide the foundation of security he needs. While his past is unknown, Kevin startles if you raise you voice or if you reach for his head quickly, so he may not always have known kindness in his world. Nonetheless, he still trusts people pretty unconditionally.
Kevin currently lives with 8 other dogs in his foster home. He does well with slow and appropriate introductions and needs his confident person there with him. He prefers his foster sisters over his foster brother. He could do well with friendly and laid back pack members. Rough and tumble play is not his thing, as he is still unsure of his role and needs his confidence boosted.
Kevin will thrive in a home with a fenced yard and with dog experienced owners. He might need to have regular dog socialization to maintain his "people skills" with other dogs, but wouldn't mind being an "only child."
He responds to praise and leadership like a morning glory opening itself up to the sunshine. :-). Could you be the love of Kevin's life?

Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and once approved, a meet and greet with the dog.
Please note that preference is given to adopters in Wisconsin, but adoptions in Illinois will be considered.
