My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Stanley and I am a beagle mix. I am 35 pounds and a little taller than most beagles and my ears are a little shorter but I have all the same wonderful traits as a full beagle. I was dumped in the streets by my owners when they no longer wanted me. I had so many fleas on me that half of my body didn’t have any hair. My foster mom can even show you a “before” picture. I spent 3 months in the shelter and during that time my hair grew back. And then something wonderful happened! Midwest Brew saved me and I’m now in a foster home until I can find my forever family.

I’m a young boy and the vet guesses around 2 years old and as sweet as they come. I’m an active and playful fella and enjoy running in foster mom’s fenced yard. I don't play with toys much as I’m just learning what they are. I do enjoy chewing on antlers and foster mom is teaching me the game of fetch. I enjoy going after the ball but we are still working on me bringing it back to her. My very favorite part of the day is my walk. Oh how I love to take a long walk. Foster mom says I pull a bit but she is working with me on that. She has been using a gentle leader harness and she says it makes all the difference. At first I had no house manners but we are working on that also. I can now sit pretty for a treat. I’m learning that I can’t put my paws on the kitchen counters but sometimes I forget.

I would be agood watch dog as I have a very deep voice. I will let you know if someone is in your yard or if a stranger is at the front door. Sometimes I get very excited when I see the leash and I can’t help but bark as I’m just so happy. And a happy boy I am. I love people and other dogs. Foster parents have no kids but the kids I’ve met on the streets during our walk are pretty cool.

At the end of a fun-filled day I love curling up by foster parents. We all lie in bed and watch TV. I love being petted and being next to them.

Although I’m not fond of a crate I do sleep in one all night. One night when foster parents didn’t make me go in it I started out by sleeping on the dog bed by their bed but once they fell asleep I snuck up in their bed and slept at the foot of the bed all night. I was so good I didn’t even wake them up. They leave me and the other 2 beagles out during the day. We are all so good that we don’t get into trouble. I won’t chew up anything or potty in the house. I have excellent potty manners and don’t mark in the house either….never have. I even know how to use a doggy door!

I like to ride in the car too!

I’m an all-around great dog that just wants to have a forever home. Please let me love my way into your heart.

Love, Stanley
