The Shih Tzu/Pekinese mix is a perfect combo for those who are searching for an extremely smart, adorable (Gizmo's underbite is the cutest ever!) and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...both breeds are famous for their loyal companionship and extremely loving and snuggly ways. They're also known to be trustworthy and very gentle with family members and other family pets...and since they require a certain amounts of exercise and absolutely love being with their people...if a walk is the order of the day - count them in! These mixes are known to run joyfully and energetically along Colorado paths...and then crash on the couch snuggling close to their favorite humans and canines.
Gizmo is an absolutely adorable and engaging guy who favors the intellect of the Pekinese while taking on the very engaging qualities of the Shih Tzu. Gizmo's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...he makes close playmates everywhere he goes. He is social and that means everyone he meets has the potential to become a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Gizmo's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through his entire body ending into a smile. And if a place is available next to a favorite family member, up Gizmo goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of his devotion.
Gizmo is such a wonderful being...we think he represents the best qualities of his breeds. At about 9 - 12 months old and a tiny 6 lbs, Gizmo seems to have completely left behind the neglect and lack of love that made up his early life. He has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments.
Gizmo is a non-shedding guy. He will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his beautiful black and white coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free.
We would like to see Gizmo in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he's very social and would thrive in a family that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member. Gizmo would be a wonderful companion for retirees or families with kids who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. Gizmo doesn't require another dog to be happy...but does enjoy both his canine and feline relationships with kind and gentle dogs and cats.
