Corlee is the poster-child for the wonders of foster care at BDAR. She was abandoned by a previous owner who left a less-than-generous surrender profile alluding to quite a lot of neglect and a lack of any support or training for her. She spent many weeks in a dark, crowded shelter where she got no enrichment, no companionship. When she finally came to BDAR she was a mess, suffering from terrible anxiety, upset stomach, and a broken heart.

The first several days in foster care with Corlee were extraordinarily challenging for her experienced foster family. But in less than a week, she began to heal. It's likely that had Corlee ever been adopted from the shelter, she would have been returned long before she had a chance to show her true nature. Thank goodness for foster families!

Corlee has now begun to mend her broken heart, to trust, and to settle. She has proven herself to be good with other dogs, impeccable with cats, and safe with children. She is an affectionate, snuggly dog.

Corlee walks well on leash with a Gentle Leader but is terrible with just a leash and collar. She hates to be kenneled but can free roam or be confined to a specific area of the house. She will jump any fence less than 6 feet tall and should not be expected to stay in a yard when left home without her people. Corlee is learning basic commands and house training but will need continued reinforcement of these new behaviors in her forever home. She likes to be held close and prefers to sleep in bed with her people. Full disclosure, Corlee snores.
