My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Say hello to Mustard. He is a 10 months old neutered male Dachshund and 11 pounds of pure love and fun.

Mustard loves to cuddle, and be loved. He also loves to play, go on dog walks, chew on things, and run around. He is a VERY active young dog.

Mustard is not allowed to be “free dog” if foster parents will be out of the house for an hour or two. He is crated to make sure he doesn’t do things unattended young dogs do like possibly chew, dig, and even potty in the wrong place. Additionally he is crated during the week while foster parents are at work.

He sleeps in crate at night and when foster parents will be gone for an hour or more. He is quiet and does not soil his crate.

Mustard is basically housebroken for a Dachshund. This means he will pee or poop in the house in inclement weather. But if you take him outside on a leash he will do his business like a good dog. Anyone that has owned a Dachshund is familiar with this habit and it is common with the breed.

Mustard is wary with strangers, and sometimes is overwhelmed when you try and walk him through enclosed areas like hallways or tight quarters. He also needs to work on "come".

Mustard isn’t what his foster parents would call a “barker”. He does bark at the door bell, and he will bark if the other dog in the house is barking. Warning: He has a very unique “alert” bark. His “alert” bark is high pitched just like a home smoke alarm. At first you will think the smoke alarm is going off until you get used to it! Once he calms down, he has a regular deep bark. He does stop barking quickly on his own.

He loves to go to on dog walks, and walks well on a leash as long as you don’t mind him getting distracted and change directions quickly to check out smells. He is a hound an follows his nose.

He is good with children and other dogs. He is currently living with an adult cat that he likes to chase so it’s best if he’s with a cat that isn’t nervous or high strung and doesn’t startle easily.

Mustard’s best feature? He doesn’t have just one. He is an all-around good young dachshund. He wants to please, and has an overall positive attitude.

Mustard's adoption fee is $250 plus a $10.99 microchip registration fee. He is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped.
