My name is Bandit!

Meet sweet Bandit. He was born 7-18-2016 and weighed about 50 pounds on March 9th. Bandit is calm when compared to other pups his age. We think he will grow to be between 55-65 pounds. He's pretty chilled out and loves cuddling next to his peeps. Our best guess on breed is Great Pyrenees/Springer Spaniel/Border Collie mix but he as big as a pure bred Great Pyrenees, and does have the crazy energy of a Border Collie.



Bandit is great with people and greets his fosters in the morning with kisses and a wagging tail. He loves every person he meets, and is happy for the attention and pets. Bandit has an awesome personality that will keep you entertained. He is so loveable and he enjoys cuddling with you on the couch and in bed.



Bandit is a happy dog! He's super smart, learns quickly and is very treat motivated. He walks well on a leash, but shies away from other dogs when on a leash. Bandit is great with cats, but sometimes will chase them if they start running around. He wants to play with them. He absolutely loves people and is super friendly to every human he meets. There is no bone guarding or food guarding. He isn't crate trained, but either sleeps in the bed with his fosters or in his dog bed on the floor next to the bed. His favorite time of day is treat time, oh and he loves the snow. He does very well at pottying outside but is taken outside every few hours with the resident dogs. We would call him house trained, but he isn't exposed to carpeting often so we don't know how he will do with that on a regular basis. Once you meet this happy dog, you will fall in love.



Bandit is shy in new situations. Bandit's considered a soft dog which means he's sensitive and tenderhearted. He approaches new situation with caution sometimes with his tail down, so his new family will need to know he will be shy when you first bring him and you will need to spend time with him reassuring him. Soft dogs are wonderful dogs, just more sensitive but super easier to train. Bandit is attentive, eager to please and is easily able to focus on the task at hand. A soft dog seldom requires harsh corrections and could in fact become thoroughly confused with a harsh or inconsistent trainer. A is a dog wants very badly to please, and is easy to teach. Soft dogs are somewhat submissive, laid back. They generally don't do well in a large pack and will hide. Soft dogs are the dogs that when you raise your voice, they shrink up and might sulk away. Soft dogs are often reactive to other dogs, like bandit because they lack confidence and are fearful of other dogs. Soft dogs do wonderfully well in a family environment with an owner/trainer but wouldn't do as well in a kennel environment or with a trainer that uses harsh training methods.



With understanding and patience Bandit's owner can continue to build his confidence and he will continue to thrive. He is very confident in his foster home, and with the other dogs in the home, but he may be shy and quiet when adopted.



Because he lacks confidence, he can be reactive with other dogs or shy away until he feels comfortable. Dogs who are in your face and don't respect space would not be a good match for Bandit, unless they will back away with a correction from him. Bandit is very clear with other dogs if he feels they are in his much much and will give of a growl. If your dog is respectful of that, our patient, and will allow time for the dogs to have a slow intro, Bandit will do fabulous with another dog. Very slow intros will need to be done and working with the two dogs to assure success. During the intro period, you will need an area gated off for Bandit to be away from the other dog until he is comfortable because Bandit is not crate trained. With time and patience Bandit would be fabulous with another dog as he really enjoys there company. He would be great as an only dog with an owner will do positive training with him and walk him.



Bandit will need a fenced in yard. We wouldn't want him out on a lead alone then have a dog come into the yard and hurt him. Absolutely no electronic fences. Only confident dogs should be placed on those type of containment systems. If your gone 8+ hours a day, Bandit isn't the right dog for you. He needs a person who will be around to love him and build his confidence. Given he's a shyer dog, we feel a home with children 7+ would be best as we don't think he would do well with all of the loud noises them come with small children. We want Bandit to Thrive and are looking for the best scenario for him.



Bandit arrived to us back in October of 2016 with kennel cough and skin issues. Both have both been resolved, and his coat is soft and beautiful. He is an awesome dog for the right family who will only do positive reinforcement training. Everyone who meets him loves him. When people see him running around with other dogs, they are surprised that he can be reactive with other dogs. On a leash he's fine, he actually shies away from other dogs as stated previously.

Bandit is being fostered in a Naperville, IL home which is where you and your family would go to meet him. All family members, must be present at the meet and greet to adopt. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but is required prior to making arrangements for a meet and greet as all of our animals are cared for in homes. We can't schedule meet and greets until the application is submitted and approved. We don't have a building so there are no viewing hours. All of our animals are cared for in foster homes by wonderful families who volunteer their time to save these precious souls. Thank you for your patience and understanding.


The adoption fee of $250.00 includes:
Neutering which is done
Microchip,
Dewormed with panacur, repeated about 2 weeks later
Fecal tested Negative
Three puppy DHPP Vaccination
Rabies Vaccination
Monthly Heartworm Preventative while in our care during season
Monthly Flea Prevenative while in our care during season
He'll come with a quick snap martingale collar, and double handle leash.


You will also receive a free health exam visit to either Crest Hill Cat and Dog Clinic, Knoll Animal Hospital of Carol Stream, Yorkville Animal Hospital, Midwest Animal Hospital in Orland Park, Countryside Animal Hospital, Springbrook Animal Hospital, or Naperville Animal Hospital.



Although we make the best guess on the breed and size of our dogs, because they come from shelters or are strays, we can never be completely certain of the genetic makeup of the dog. Breed and weight at maturity are only guesses. All we can tell you for sure is that they are 100% RESCUED! If an animal is still posted for adoption, he/she is still available.
