Stevie is docile and easy going.  He has obviously been blind his whole life because he has no anxiety about it.  When a female cat has distemper when she is pregnant, the kittens will be born with neurological problems and that may be the explanation for Stevie’s condition - maybe his mom had distemper when she was pregnant with him.  He is 90% blind, 60% deaf, and walks with a bit of a stagger.

He has long soft fur like he is part Persian.   And even though he was found as a stray, he does not have any knots.   He gets along with other cats and due to his laid back personality, he would probably get along with non-aggressive dogs.   (He is food possessive, so you need to feed him separately from the other cats in the household.)

Stevie can not hear in the normal voice range, but he can hear high notes, so I am training him to follow the sound of bells.  Since he has almost no vision, you have to walk around him, and he won’t see you coming and won’t move.  So Stevie can not live in a house with children.  And since he can not see, he must be a 100% indoor cat for the rest of his life.

(Stevie has been fixed and has had age appropriate shots.  He is ready to go to his new forever home today.)

About Fayette County Humane Society

About Our Rescue Group...

The Fayette County Humane Society (FCHS), staffed entirely by volunteers, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supported entirely by individual and corporate donations. Because we do not have a shelter, all of the animals we rescue live in temporary foster homes until they are adopted. We believe that all companion pets have intrinsic value and should be treated with the reverence and care they deserve.
