My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hobo is a Yorkie/terrier mix-- at least that's what the groomer said! He weighs about 10 pounds, but is very thin. The shelter staff called him "the hobo dog" and the name just kind of stuck. But all Hobo needs is a bath and grooming (already done!) and a home to call his own (still needed!). A recent vet exam estimated his age at 12 months.

This little guy has been bounced around from one place to the next for much of his young life. His first owner gave him up for adoption, saying he was not house trained. His next owner was told "No Dogs Allowed" in her building, so back he went to the shelter.

In spite of his frequent homelessness Hobo is sweet, friendly, and adjusts quickly to new situations. He loves to take brisk walks, and would make someone a great pint-sized companion. Sudden movements and loud noises sometimes scare him, so he would do best in a home with older or no children. He will need someone home during the day to keep him on a schedule, and complete his potty training.

Hobo is now at Wilmette Pet Center, 625 Green Bay Road in Wilmette (847-251-6750, www.wilmettepetcenter.com). You can meet him any time during regular store hours, 7 days a week. Although you will want to take him home on the spot, please know you will have to complete an adoption application.

Hobo's adoption fee of $325 includes vet exam, heartworm test (neg.), distemper combo vaccination, bordetella vaccination, rabies vaccination, flea/tick preventative, heartworm preventative, routine deworming, microchip and neuter.
