Charley the Cheese Man (this boy LOVES cheese!) is a poster child for cute dogs. This scrappy little guy came to us as a stray and is ready to find a home with lots of love, chew toys warm beds and...you guessed it, cheese. That stuff is hard to find on the street!

Charley is the perfect size to snuggle next to you. But be aware Charley doesn't like being restrained, so no big hugs! Unless, you're packing cheese, of course, and then maybe you can convince him it's all good. Kidding aside, Charley's new vet will need to know about his disdain for restraint.

Charley likes to explore with his nose, so a Scenting Class would be great for him! MHS just happens to offer these classes. Attending them with Charley will help his new people bond with him and he'll have the fun he so richly deserves. Just remember to bring cheese! Thank goodness for his passion - it'll make him super fun to work with and train. In addition to training, several "sniff and potty" walks daily around the neighborhood will keep him exercised and engaged. He doesn't really like being alone, so he will be happiest with someone who is home a lot. Making sure he's good and tired will also help when you go out for a while.

While here, Charley met several dogs of various sizes. He is very selective of whom he likes and he needs to work on doggie manners, so no dog parks! Did we mention treats? Well, Charley likes yummy chews (especially cheesy ones) so much that he would greatly prefer that you not take them away from him. He IS getting better about that and he WILL trade. For this reason and the fact that he does not like being restrained, we recommend Charley live with adults only or in a family where the kids are OVER 16 and will be able to give him the space and training he needs.

Charley might not be a couch potato, but he IS a great companion dog if you like spending quality time with your best friend, walking, playing, training and generally having a blast. This boy can be a star! Are you his new entourage?
