Thank you for considering adoption...all our dog adoption fees include spay or neuter, microchip, shots up to date for their age, deworming if needed, and any other necessary medical needs they require.
Jezebelle came to us after being found as a stray. She is microchipped, and her original owner was contacted; he released her to us. She was very ill when she arrived, a vet visit indicated she had parvo so she was hospitalized and treated. She is now healthy and eating well, her previously prominent ribs are disappearing and she is active and happy.
She loves people, and is highly responsive to positive training. She is crate trained, and when loose chews happily on toys and bones. She is not completely house trained, but is doing well on a preventative schedule - I take her out about once an hour and praise her a lot when she does her business. She is extremely food motivated, and does cruise counters for food so this is another area she will need work in. She has a beautiful recall, and has already learned to sit when she comes! She is intelligent, loving, and beautiful - I love her already!
She is interested in cats but not obsessively, and shows no intent for anything but curiosity.
Jezebelle has a dominant personality; what this really means is that she wants to be the boss. She wants to be my boss, your boss, everybody's boss. Her new owner should be prepared to figure out the parameters that Jezebelle is allowed to do or not do and be prepared to enforce it. And this doesn't mean by physical force - bad behavior can be interrupted and refocused, she can do a time out in her crate, or reroute the energy into training. There are dozens of tricks you can teach a dog just during commercials! She is scheduled for spay surgery at NOAH at the end of November; this may reduce the bossy behavior I have been seeing. I am discouraging the guarding behavior of her toys and she eats in her crate to eliminate the start of food guarding. She will need a lot of socialization and I highly recommend that she attend several obedience classes, and perhaps do agility training, nosework, or training for competition. She needs a job!
