Hello my name is Princess and that's on the account that I believe I am royalty and I accept loving only from those who approach me slowly and give me food! I can be a bit bashful with new people, but as long as they respect my elegance and allow me to make the first greeting, I tend to warm up very quickly. This isn't to say I am not a friendly dog, I just am particular about the company I choose to spend my time with. I am the most advanced dog in my class at SCCA and I have learned our Open Paw program faster and more in depth than the rest of our dogs. I know my commands very well, sometimes I need my handler to remind me of them, but once I understand what Is being asked of me, I often perform the command very well. I am a single princess that is not looking for her prince charming, rather a family that will treat me with dignity and respect for the rest of my life and in return I will always be in your lap giving you love. I do not enjoy cats either, and I tend to become a bit cranky when they are in the same area as me. It is recommended that Princess be apart of a single dog family, but she can be tested at SCCA before making a final decision about a multi-dog household. It is also recommended that she becomes apart of an active family that loves to go on walks or play with Princess in the backyard. Princess is a lap dog that wants nothing more than to go to her fairy tale home and live a magical life with her new family!

Steps to Adopting

Finding Love – Second Chance Center for Animals is open for adoptions Wednesday through Sunday from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. Our off-site adoption partners Petco and Canyon Pet Hospital are open 7 days a week. Visit in person to meet our animals, or search our website for up-to-date animal profiles. We rescue new animals all the time, so check back for updates!

Meet and Greet - Our shelter offers "get acquainted" rooms where prospective adopters can get to know our animals. If you already have a dog, we love for you require you to bring him or her along for a "meet and greet," so our adoption counselors can provide coaching for you and your pet to help welcome a new family member.

Adopt – The adoption process at Second Chance Center for Animals and with our off-site adoption partners is the same. Please allow about 20 minutes for an informal interview process and to complete an adoption agreement. Every animal presented for adoption by Second Chance is ready to go to their new home. Dogs, cats, puppies and kittens have been examined by a veterinarian, fully vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and permanently identified with a micro-chip. All animals also go home with a free gift of pet health insurance. Adopters must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid state-issued identification. We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express for payment.

Fees – With food and shelter, veterinary care, behavior assessments, and training, Second Chance Center for Animals invests $300 to $500 in every animal adopted through our organization. The fee to adopt a puppy (under 6 months) or small breed dog ranges from $120 to $250. Adoption fees for adult medium to large size dogs is $110. The adoption fee for kittens (under 6 months) ranges from $85 to $150 and for adult cats is $75.

Follow-up – Within 5 days after you adopt a new pet, our counselors will contact you by phone to check in. We will ask how your new pet is adjusting to his or her new home and we will want to hear any questions or concerns that you may have. We are here to help you and your new pet create a successful life together.

Our free Bark University, a two hour seminar and hands-on training session with you and your new pet, is available to every adopter.
