Hi, I'm Susie-Q (aka wiggle-butt)! After being in the shelter for almost 6 months, I'm ready to find my furever home! I'm 2-3 years old, 33 lbs. (vet says this is my good weight), spayed, microchipped, housebroken, and have the cleanest teeth ever thanks to my foster parents for having them cleaned for me! My foster parents think I'm a corgi-lab mix (corgidor), because I have a long body, shorter legs, and big ears, and have the temperament of a lab, but I'm definitely 100% rescued! Until I get used to my surroundings, I should stay in my crate when left alone (I'm a curious girl because everything is new to me). I will sleep in my crate at night if needed, but prefer to sleep on the comfy bed with my foster family (I stay on the bed all night!). I learned to use the stairs, walk on a leash, and am working on some commands. I like to play ball. I get along with other dogs and love the people I meet (even the little ones)! I love to lay in the big window in the sun with my foster brother! I love treats and am not aggressive in any way!

My foster parents say I'm a really good girl! I'm not a barker (unless I need to be). I like to go for walks, but I prefer to do my "business" in the back yard (which should be fenced because I like to run and chase squirrels). I ride like a champ in the car inside my travel crate. I am the best cuddler (which will come in handy during the cold winter) and love getting belly rubs and just hanging out! Come and meet me - you will fall in love.

The adoption fee of $300.00 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. Although we make the best guess on the breed and size of our dogs, because they come from shelters, we can never be completely certain of the genetic makeup of the dog. All we can tell you for sure is that they are 100% RESCUED! Suzi-Q is being fostered in Naperville, IL.

If you are interested in adopting, please visit our website at Once you complete and submit your dog adoption application we will set up an appointment to meet this pup!

About Starfish Animal Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Starfish Animal Rescue has been rescuing and transporting cats and dogs from two shelters in Southeast Kentucky. Since Starfish's conception, we have been able to rescue and transport over 10.000 dogs and cats. We are always in need of volunteers, and donations. All of our adoptable pups are in loving foster homes, preparing for their forever home.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We are not a shelter. We are a group of pet lovers and advocates who are committed to targeted rescue. Starfish Animal Rescue is a licensed rescue that is run by an all volunteer staff.
Once we rescue a dog or cat, it is placed in one of our foster homes until we are able to find it a suitable home. We are happy to set up an appointment to meet our pets once we receive and review your completed application.

We do our best to process applications quickly but please understand that we are a foster based rescue and that our volunteers work jobs; many are full time. Sending in a completed application is the best way to facilitate this process. You can go on our website and download an application
Once your application is reviewed, we will put you in contact with the dog's foster family to set up a time to meet the pet of your choice!
Thank you for supporting our rescue and what we are trying to accomplish in southeastern Kentucky.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption fees range from $100 - $450 depending on age and breed. For dogs/puppies this covers spay/neuter, microchip, dewormers, flea and tick preventative, heartworm test (only over 6 months of age) and all up to date, age appropriate vaccinations. We require an adoption application and a home visit prior to adoption.
