Joey is a goofball! He is a big boy at about 80 pounds and we believe he is a Lab/Rottie mix of around 2-3 years old. He is super friendly, making friends with the staff at the shelter who all wanted to say good-bye before he took his freedom ride! Joey still has all his puppy energy and would make a great companion dog for an active family. He would love to go running, hiking, splashing through the surf, bicycling, whatever you enjoy he’ll want to enjoy it with you. He walks well on leash and knows some basic commands. Joey learns quickly and is anxious to please and very food motivated making him easy to train. We taught him to lie down in just a few minutes. Joey loves to have tough toys like Kongs filled with peanut butter to chew on and keep him occupied. We believe he has been house trained but he has not had the opportunity for fostering yet so we are still getting to know him. He is a medium to high energy dog who is able to settle next to you to relax and enjoy your company. With regular exercise he is the perfect dog for a family with older children over 12. He would also make a perfect companion for an active single person. The best thing about Joey is how affectionate he is. He is an 80 pound lap dog! He loves belly rubs, being brushed, and giving kisses! Joey is a people dog and although he gets along with other dogs he prefers people. When on walks, he ignores barking dogs and doesn’t seem interested in cats. Joey needs a family to love and form a permanent bond with. He will be that “special” dog who will be loyal and loving and protective. He will give you years of love and loyalty and lots of big, sloppy kisses!
