Joey's Story...
Joey is a 3 year old Lab/Rottweiler mix. He is about 80-85 lbs and medium energy. He loves people and especially men, is friendly with everyone and gets along well with other dogs. He may be able to acclimate to cats as he doesnt seem interested in them. He may be ok with small dogs also. We think he is house trained and house socialized but since he is not in a foster home we can't say for sure.

Joey is a dog you can take almost anywhere because he loves people. He loves being active, going for walks, Playing in the back yard, romping down a trail or at the beach. You can probably take him anywhere and not worry since everyone will be his friend. Joey still has all his puppy energy and would make a great companion dog for an active family. He would love to go running, hiking, splashing through the surf, bicycling, whatever you enjoy he’ll want to enjoy it with you. He is learning to walk well on leash and knows his sit and down. Joey learns quickly and is anxious to please and very food motivated making him easy to train. We taught him to lie down in just a few minutes. Joey loves to have tough toys like Kongs filled with peanut butter to chew on and keep him occupied. The best thing about Joey is how affectionate he is. He is an 80 pound lap dog! He loves belly rubs, being brushed, and giving kisses!

If you are interested in meeting Joey please complete an adoption or foster application on our website below. You will also find our available dogs on both our webpage and Facebook page below.

The adoption donation for most healthy adult dogs is $300. Special consideration is given to senior and special needs dogs. This amount only partially covers the cost of vet care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. All dogs will be spayed or neutered, microchipped, and be current on vaccinations. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Joey, a San Diego Labrador Retriever/Rottweiler dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Rottweiler for sale in San Diego, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Rottweiler dog from a breeder in San Diego.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in San Diego already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a San Diego breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Rottweiler breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Rottweiler rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in San Diego paves the way for another one to be saved.
