Trixie is a female black short hair. In the right light you can see gray tiger stripes in her sleek, black fur coat. She's such a sweet kitty, and is a loving lap cat. She assumes if you sit down, you must want her on your lap, or shoulder, or perched on top of your foot. She doesn't seem to care where she is, as long as she is with someone to love. She is very playful and loves to chase you around the house, especially if you have a shoe string. She loves any and all toys. She really just loves attention. She is very verbal and loves to talk to her humans. When Caws rescued her, her left eye was completely sealed shut and blind. After weeks of nurturing her, her eye nearly healed entirely. Because of the swelling in her eye, her Iris slightly attached to the surface of her eye, which will never give her problems, but does tend to make her look a little cross eyed sometimes. She would love to be adopted with one of her siblings, as she loves to always be playing (Sweet Pea, Oliver or Bear). She is litter box trained, loving and great with small children. If you are interested in adopting a CAWS pet, please fill out an online application at www.caws.org.

About Community Animal Welfare Society

About Our Rescue Group...

Founded in 1992 the Community Animal Welfare Society ( CAWS) is one of the oldest no-kill animal rescues in Utah. Over the last 20 years CAWS, our fosters and supporters have saved thousands of lives including over 600 last this year. As the largest foster home network in the state of Utah we focus on high risk pets in need of additional care and rehabilitation

Come Meet Our Pets...

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.

Our Adoption Process...

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.
