Facts about Dolly

  • Breed: American Bulldog/Blue Heeler Mix
  • Color: White
  • Age: Young
  • Size: Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
  • Sex: Female
Dolly is a 3 year old American Bully/White Heeler mix. She is gorgeous. 70 lbs of solid muscle. I pulled Dolly from a kill shelter last year along with her 2 puppies thinking I was doing the right thing for her, and she still waits due to no fault of her own. Dolly has been in foster care for now over a year. She is with two of my very best fosters and has lived with them for months and months without incident. Dolly loves puppies. She has been foster mom for many puppies of mine that have come through rescue. She is currently helping foster 2 of my 40 lb lab/boxer mix puppies. She is often found dragging her toys around or putting her chewy bones into the puppies mouths to get them to play with her. She has had professional training for obedience. She walks well on a leash and rides perfectly tethered in a car. She also knows basic commands. She is a total love.
The best home for Dolly would be with a larger submissive dog. No alpha dogs. She does not like to be challenged. She is a chill girl. She currently is in foster with a 75 lb female submissive dog and the two 40 lb puppies, and does excellent. Dolly likes to graze so no food bowls left out if your dog doesn't like to share their groceries. She is on a scheduled feeding and gets fed twice a day separately from her foster siblings. She is not a fan of cats or critters. She has a high prey drive. She would love a home with a big fenced back yard and someone active who would take her on runs, hiking, or trips to the beach with her brother or sister. She does fine with children but I would say 10 and up due to her size alone. I would not want her to knock a toddler over.
Dolly is spayed, up to date on all vaccines, wormer, and preventatives. She underwent fast kill heartworm treatment last year.
She is currently located at our sister shelter down south and available for pre-adoption!! We do transports to NJ once a month!! This girl would love to find her forever home in cooler climate!!

About Southern Paws Inc.

About Our Rescue Group...

For the last year we have been working specifically with rescues in Louisiana and Mississippi, which is where are dogs are currently located. All of our dogs are adopted on a pre-adoption basis and then transported to NJ after the adoption process is complete. Upon arrival they go into a 24 hour monitoring period, where we make sure that they have made it through transport safe, happy, and healthy. After that 24 hour period, these dogs go into their forever home. It is a long journey but it is well worth the trip. There is an adoption fee on our dogs. This fee is a reimbursement for all of the services that we have provided to the dog being adopted. We put all of our dogs through a very stringent vetting process, deworm them multiple times, run fecal exams, spay & neuter, vaccinate and have them checked multiple times by the vet. Before they are transported, each of our dogs must receive a health certificate clearing them for travel. This fee also helps us cover the cost of transport and any other medical attention the dog may require upon arrival. The fee for all of our dogs is $400.00. Because all of our dogs are pre-adopted and we don't have a facility in the state of NJ (YET!) there is no meet and greet process with our dogs. If you must meet the dog before you adopt then that is totally understandable, however we may not be the best program for you. We do have a back up program just in case a dog doesn't do well in his new home. In that case the pup goes back into foster care and will be put up for adoption again in the state of NJ.
We have also recently started working with our local shelters and rescues to help re-home animals in our area. This program is strict and is something that we are trying to do to help out locally when we are not running transports!
We have been talking about the future a lot, here at Southern Paws Inc. I am excited to tell you that it is one of our goals to have our own facility within the next 3 to 5 years. We also hope that within the next year or so we will be able to branch out and work with other Southern states in need, such as Georgia, Mississippi, and South Carolina. Our hope for the future is to continue to save lives and do the rewarding work that we do.

All meet and greets are done through appointment only after an application has been approved. If interested in meeting one of our wonderful babies please contact us at: southernpawsrescue@gmail.com or call her at 973-556-5885.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process is very simple.

1) A phone call with one of our representatives to find out what it is that you are looking for, what your home is like, and who lives there. We then try to make sure that the dog you are interested in, is going to be a perfect match for your household.
2) You are emailed an application which is filled out and then scanned back to us.
3) It normally takes a couple of days for an application to be processed, but once approved we do a home check.
4) Adoption fee is $400.00. This is a reimbursement for all that we have done your dog. This fee covers all of their vetting, vaccinations, spay/neuter, health certificate and evaluation, and their cost of transport.
