Lights! Camera! Action! Charlton here, and just like my namesake, I am a star ready steal hearts and make history.
There won't be any drama with me in your life. It all be all comedy and romance for sure. With my stunning face and stellar personality, you and I will fall in love and live happily ever after. There will also be some action since I love to run and play with other dogs and am a very well-behaved canine companion. No independent films are in my future though -- I am an award-winning cuddle bug and will love to curl up with you to watch all these movies that we will make together.
I had a bit of tragedy in one of my past roles -- one of my back feet is a little misshapen (missing some toes), and something happened to my eye -- but don't worry, it doesn't slow me down and I can still race down the red carpet! I definitely have talent for being the leading man in your life, so don't delay and call my agent (Red Collar Rescue) and tell them that you want to cast me into your forever home! Email firstname.lastname@example.org so we can meet.

Because of the distance, it is not possible for you to meet the dog, in person, unless you come to Houston. We can often send videos and/or do FaceTime interviews to allow you to “meet” the dog.
Why should you consider adopting a dog from Houston?
Houston is the #2 kill city in the U.S. City and County shelters often take in a combined 200-300 animals per day. The number of homeless pets and resulting euthanasias are staggering -- the average "live release rate" from Houston area shelters is only about 35-50%. Houston is estimated to have over 1 million homeless animals. Over 100,000 are killed in Harris Co shelters every year. Red Collar Rescue volunteers work tirelessly to save as many as we can, but the Houston area is saturated with so many pets in need of a home and not enough adopters. To put it simply, we encourage out of state adoptions because it helps us save more lives. We hope that you will consider one of our many adoptable pets who are waiting for a second chance at a forever home - wherever it may be!

You'll receive a copy, too, at to help you keep track of which pets you've inquired about, and which shelters and rescues you've emailed.
NOTE: Some shelters have physical locations you can visit; some of these shelters may only have pets for a limited time, so please do not wait for a reply—just go visit the shelter! Other organizations are rescue groups run by busy volunteers who may take a while to reply. You can find information about the shelter or rescue group caring for this pet, and their adoption procedures, on the pet's details page on Adopt-a-Pet.com.
