My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bella
Italian for "beautiful"… her name says it all. Bella is a super sweet poodle mix. She is approximately 9 years old; although the vet believes she is more like 6 years. Bella's owner died and she ended up at a high kill shelter in Chicago. The life she once knew was gone in a blink of an eye. Can you imagine losing your family and your home in an instant? No either can I … She was frightened, alone and shutting down. Angels on Wheels saw this scared beauty and saved her.
At first Bella was unsure of her new surroundings but with patience and love from her foster parents, she slowly came out of her shell and started to learn to trust again. Now, Bella is filled with playful energy. She loves belly rubs and snuggles. She has a foster sister that she gets along well with. It did take about a week of gradual introduction. You see Bella is the Belle of the ball. She LOVES attention and Bella is willing to share the attention with a furry brother or sisiter … she just needs a few days to adjust. This sweetie is house broken. She definitely knows her potty times. Her foster family has her on a schedule where she is walked or taken outside 3-4 times a day. She is not destructive in any way when left alone so her foster parents saw no reason to crate her. Bella is learning commands and knows sit. Bella is extremely smart and resourceful. Keep her treats in a plastic container or watch out, she'll get them!!!!
Bella was wonderful with the children she met. She loved the attention, and treats they gave her!! And she LOVES her toys too!! This dog has been through so much. Losing her owner was devastating but then to be dumped in a high kill shelter where her odds were stacked against her was the last draw . Now, Bella has a second chance at life and love. All Bella wants is a forever family that will not break her heart again. Are you willing to give this loving girl the only thing she wants, her very own family?
