Redmon is a 4-5 month old puppy who was on the kill list at a high kill facility in Memphis because he had a broken leg. We decided a cute puppy like Redmon deserved a second chance at life, and had a surgeon fix his leg, and then he came to Pittsburgh to find his new family! Redmon will make a full recovery, but he is currently on strict cage rest so that he can properly heal. We are currently looking for a home that can continue the strict cage rest, but who will also be ready to conquer puppyhood, and also be ready to exercise an active puppy, once he has clearance to do so. If you would like to meet Redmon, please GO TO OUR WEBSITE TO READ ABOUT THE PROCESS AND FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION. www.furkidrescue.org
Furkid Rescue is a small, private home-based rescue located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We officially started our organized rescue efforts in the spring of 2008, but have been rescuing and working with other rescue groups and local shelters for over 5 years. We take in mainly Pit Bull puppies who have been rescued from gas kill pounds, animal control facilities, backyard breeders, or people who are no longer able to keep their pets. We rarely take in owner’s surrenders unless we find that the owner has a valid reason for abandoning the pet. Furkid Rescue will also save other breeds when there is room in one of our breed-experienced foster homes. You may see mastiffs, chihuahuas, or a fabulous mutt who needs a wonderful home! Please visit our main site to read more about our rescue, our adoption process, and to download an adoption application. www.furkidrescue.org
Come Meet Our Pets...
We do not have a physical location. We try to give our animals the best foster experience possible, not only for their comfort, but to implement training and make sure they are getting the best care imaginable. Once you are approved for an meet and greet, we are more than willing to bring the dog to your home so that you can spend time with the dog(s) of your choice
Our Adoption Process...
There is always an adoption fee to cover medical expenses such as spay/neuter/shots/pound fees. There is a home check and contract that is required to adopt a dog.
