Meet beautiful and smiley Candy, an almost two year old female Pyr-mix with a sweet personality, as her name suggests. Candy began her life with her mother on a farm, however, her owners decided that she would be better suited to a life as a cherished indoor family companion. Happy Candy is warm and friendly to all people, and lives to be loved and tended to. She relishes getting her belly rubbed and is content just to be by her people and fellow dogs. To this latter point, Candy gets along beautifully with other animals, including all five dogs in her current foster home. She would so love to have another large breed playful dog in her new home with whom she could be best friends. Candy ignores the resident house cat, but has not been kid tested since her foster home has no children. It is certain that she would make a great companion to an older child who is not intimidated by her size. She walks well on a leash, is being crate and kennel trained, and is ready and eager to learn new skills - like how to sit and stay seated while being brushed. Candy is an active girl, and would do great with a new family or person who loves companionship, outdoor activities, running around in a well-fenced yard, and giving over their heart unconditionally and eternally - just like Candy does!

About Us: National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) is not a shelter. We are a not-for-profit, tax-exempt coalition of Pyr rescuers and rescue groups. We save Pyrs and Pyr mixes across the country and place them in approved foster homes so we know how they will interact with your family. Please consider adopting or fostering. Every dog who is fostered or adopted makes room for another Pyr coming out of a kill shelter. Prior to adoption, NGPR dogs are fostered for a minimum of two weeks (usually more), spayed or neutered and fully vetted. Dogs coming from out of area are certified with a USDA health certificate before going to their new homes. Our rescuers adhere to the highest placement standards and will take back any dog whose adoption does not succeed. Visit www.nationalpyr.org to learn more about us, our mission and our breed.
