Nancy's Story...
Nancy is a very sweet but shy girl who has not had a very good life. She has lived outdoors her whole life and is just now getting used to the indoors. She wants so much to be loved but doesn't quite know how to receive it. It may take a little time but we know she can adjust. She's a pretty tri-colored Beagle who weighs only 20 pounds and is 5 yrs. young. She's a calm girl who isn't high energy. She's good with other dogs and was surrendered with two other Beagles who lived outside with her. If you like a challenge and love the idea of helping a very special girl, this cutie is for you.

For more information or to see Nancy, submit an online dog adoption application at http://hsfc.org/adoptions/applications/online/. After reviewing the application, staff will contact you—typically within two business days— to make an appointment to visit the farm where our dogs and horses are kept.

Our dogs and horses are NOT at the HSFC shelter at 4057 Chain Bridge Road, Fairfax, VA--only our cats, birds, rabbits, and small mammals can be visited there. Come by and see us!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Nancy, a Fairfax Beagle dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle for sale in Fairfax, or seeking a Beagle dog from a breeder in Fairfax.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Fairfax already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Fairfax breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle breeders who help with Beagle rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Fairfax paves the way for another one to be saved.
