My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

✰✰ TIP Male 4 years & AVAILABLE - for more photos of TIP please click http://norcalbcrescue.org/tip_2016.html ✰✰

Meet TIP! This sweet and friendly boy has been one of our very favorite foster charges here in our home. TIP instantly won us over with his "velcro" personality. He sticks to his foster mom's heels just like velcro! Whether around the house or tending to chores outside, TIP is always attentive to where his foster mom is and is always close by. Even if he feels the need to explore something or go sniffing around, he never lets his person out of his sight here. He very much enjoys accompanying us while we do our chores and then joining us for a car ride to run errands. With the cooler weather upon us, the dogs get a lot more opportunity to tag along on errands and TIP really seems to like the trips to the store and about town. He is going to do best in an environment where his people can give him lots of attention by being home at lot, taking him on errands and evenly possibly to work. Right now TIP lives with his foster mom, and a ten year old boy, dogs, cats and horses. His foster home is thus often chaotic with people and animals coming going at all times, but TIP through it all TIP remains calm and content. We have learned that TIP knows the difference between indoor cats that are part of the family and outdoor, feral cats. He will definitely give chase to any cats that don't belong! If you have a cat we will need to talk further to see if your kitty’s sense of territory is going to mesh with TIP’s sense of territory.

While he doesn't seem to have much formal obedience training, we expect that TIP would pick up commands quite well with consistency and patience. He appears to be housebroken as he has not had any accidents in his foster home. He is accustomed to sleeping quietly and eating his meals in his crate. He recognizes the crate as his comfy sleeping area, so we would encourage a crate to be made available to him in his new home as well.

When engaged in play from his younger foster brother, TIP will oblige for a bit before he wants the young one to leave him be, in which case he just sacks out on the floor until the pup gets bored and leaves. At four years old, he's a bit more mature and he just isn't into those puppy shenanigans all the time! TIP would be fine in a home with or without other dogs; his desire to be with his person is stronger than his desire to have other dog company, but he gets along well with his foster siblings too. TIP hasn't displayed interest in toys or fetch or anything silly and fun like that, this is a dog that is dedicated to his person and just wants to be near them at all times, and he doesn't seem to need toys to keep busy. All in all TIP is sweet boy with a great disposition. He will make some lucky person or family a wonderful, committed, lifelong companion.

TIP is micro-chipped, neutered, heart worm negative and on preventative, and up to date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application (http://norcalbcrescue.org/adopt_info.html) and wish to enquire about TIP, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration.

TIP is being fostered in Colusa in Colusa County, California.
