Hey Moe! Moe is absolutely adorable and such a ham! She appears to be a 2 year old rat terrier mix. Moe is one great dog - she is very smart and is house trained, crate trained, and leash trained. She LOVES...are you, adults, dogs, cats, car rides, playing and fetching toys, hanging out with the fam...well, you get the idea! Like all dogs, she does need daily exercise and she would also love to play in a fenced-in yard. Moe would benefit from obedience classes to help her brush up on her house manners. The classes are also a great way to bond and get to know your new best friend and we promise that Moe will make them fun. She's so exuberant and happy about life and she really tries to please her people. She gives awesome kisses and her tail is nearly always wagging! What more can we say? Sweet Moe is waiting for you!!
Moe's Background: Sadly Moe's original owner passed away, and she was brought to a shelter in Mississippi when her new owner could no longer care for her and threatened to shoot her. Upon intake, Moe displayed stiff and painful knees, and luxating patellas. While in our partner's care over the last few months, she has been observed closely and she has built up her leg muscles and her patellas are considered to be at a Grade II.  No surgery is recommended at this time, staying trim and active is essential, as is a daily glucosamine chondroitin supplement. Luxating patellas is a degenerative condition, however, so as she ages, she might show some signs of joint pain and may find some relief regularly taking an anti-inflammatory medication like Carprofen - this is not too expensive. Please see here for more information on patellar luxation: . Because of the significant improvement we have seen in Moe's condition due to regular activity as well as details gathered at intake, we believe that her previous owner kept her crated in a much too small crate for much too long on a daily basis. This history has not seemed to slow her down in the least - she now runs, plays, jumps, and bounds around. Moe is glad to leave this past behind and she is anxiously awaiting her new furever family!

**Additional info you should know -  For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix.  We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label.   Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption.  There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.

Our Adoption Process...

Step 1: Find Fido

Review our online dog bios, email us if you have any questions. At SOS, we want to make the RIGHT right match, and that means helping you and Fido start a relationship – sometimes from a long distance.

Take your time, explore your options, consider your home and what kind of companion will fit in your lifestyle.

Step 2: Complete Our Application

Once you think you have found the right dog for you, please complete our online application.

At SOS, we don’t just want to make a match, we want to make the right match. To do this, we need your help; we know our dogs, but we don’t know you yet – our application helps us get to know you!

Step 3: Have a Talk

We will review the application and if it appears to be a good match for the selected dog, we will arrange for a time to talk with you over the phone.

Step 4: Meet Your Match

If, after the phone interview, the match seems to be a good one, we will be happy to arrange a meet-n-greet with you and the dog, if the dog is local. Meet-n-greets will be scheduled in the order they are requested.

Step 5: Application Screening

Once everyone has met (if the dog is local), and the match seems to be a good one, a designated SOS volunteer will check your landlord, vet, and personal references, as relevant. We may also require a home visit or adopter meeting.

Step 6: Finalize The Adoption

If the match is a good one, you will be informed via email of the adoption decision, and provided with instructions for how to pay the adoption donation and complete our adoption contract/addendum(s).

Step 7: Pick Up Your New Best Friend!

Once the adoption is finalized, congratulations! We will contact you to make arrangements to pick up your new family member!
**Please note that additional vetting, quarantine and/or waiting periods may be required depending upon your state of residence.

All of our dogs are age appropriately vaccinated prior to adoption. All of our dogs have been spayed/neutered and tested/treated for common canine disease.
