My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SIERRA: 7 Year Old Black Female Lab Mix 65 Pounds

Sierra is looking for a new home as her owner is not around and she is left for long periods – twelve to fourteen hours a day. (Her ex-husband was going to take Sierra but he left her when he moved out of the home.) Her owner loves Sierra but she knows she deserves a better life. She has been a big part of her home for the last seven years, they got her at 5 weeks of age. She is an inside dog; sleeps in the home and has access to the home in and out during the day. She is a very playful, loving dog that wants more attention. She is still active for her age and goes for regular walks. She likes to ride in the car, loves to play fetch and knows many commands. She knows: sit, stay, down, come, drop, leave-it, roll over, walk and ball. She may jump up on people when she first meets them but a part of her energy is not getting out as much as she needs. She loves to play with other dogs and is fine with kids but if they have food in their hand it will be Sierra’s rather quickly. She has gone to the dog park in the past and has not had any issues. She has not been around cats but on walks when she notices them she will pull on the leash to try and meet them. She will pull on the leash when going for walks so we would recommend some leash training with Sierra. Sierra does not like to be left alone in the yard she will bark a bit if left alone outside but she is fine left alone in the home.

From the owner:

Meet Sierra. She is a seven year old Black Labrador Retriever mix. Sierra loves to be around people, and thrives when getting attention. She loves to play fetch with her tennis ball, go for walks, and take trips to the dog park. She also likes to play with other dogs. Sierra loves to play with toys, especially ones that squeak. Her favorite treats are bully sticks. Sierra has been with our family since she was 5 weeks old. She has been around our three children since they were brought home from the hospital and has always been gentle and aware of their size and space needs while she played or rested near them. She loves to be outside, as long as someone is with her. She spends most of her days indoors, is house trained, and loves to snuggle on the foot of the bed at night. She is an extremely loyal companion.

She has not had any health issues. She is spayed, she is current on her shots, she is heartworm negative and she is microchipped.

Sierra is located in Napa.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
