found a new home!
Plenty of my friends are looking
for one too. Find a pet to adopt.
I am already neutered, purebred, and up to date with shots.
This little guy is Herbie, and he is single and ready to mingle! He is a 3 year old Shih Tzu and he weighs about 9 pounds. But don't let his small size fool you. He has a big personality! His life revolves around two things: sleeping and snuggling. When he is on the couch or in bed with you, he wiggles around like a worm until he is burrowed as close as he can get to you. When he isn't snuggling, he typically has a few bursts of energy throughout the day when he darts around the backyard, chases his foster sibling, or squeaks his toys until he collapses into the nearest lap.
He was recently neutered and had a dental, so he's feeling like a new dog. He is now on the search for the perfect family to call his own. He's looking for a home in which someone is home a lot of the day. At first he didn't like to be left alone in his foster home. But after a week or two, he settled in and felt very comfortable. His foster parents check in on him during the day with a remote camera and they found that he likes to be pretty lazy and lay on the couch. He doesn't like to be confined and will panic and be destructive, so his family needs to be okay with letting him roam free in the house. Herbie has never lived in a place without another dog friend, so he needs to go to a home where he would have a small playmate. He tries to use his foster sister as a pillow and he follows her around everywhere. His foster parents haven't seen him interact with children, but he is very playful and gentle, so he should do fine with older, respectful kids.
Herbie is catching on to potty training very well, but his new family must commit to continuing with this training. He is also becoming a more refined gentleman, and he'd love to keep learning good manners. Herbie was sort of a bossy little guy when he came to his foster home, but his foster parents gave him a lot of rules to follow and he quickly learned that he, and everyone else, is happier when he has limits. He likes having a strong leader and knowing what's expected of him, and he would do best with a family who knows how important it is to have a few rules in the house.
If you are looking for someone who will share long walks under a sunset, cuddle during movies, love you unconditionally and never hog the remote, Herbie is your guy. He is in excellent health, neutered, up to date on all his vaccinations, microchipped, and is on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. His adoption fee is $370.00 plus $26.92 sales tax for a total of $396.92. His foster mom would like to find his adoptive home within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN, and she does ask the adopter to attend our STRMN Rescue Reunion each year the 3rd Saturday in September.
To meet Herbie, please complete an adoption application. Or you can also see him and the other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota by visiting with us from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Minnetonka Petco near Ridgedale on Saturday, November 5th or Saturday, December 3rd.
