Meet Sporty, he's a really pretty looking cat. He is white with some patches on him. He is very gentle and affectionate and loves to be held. We woke him up from a nap when we took these pictures. He is approximately 4 years old. Stop by and meet Sporty!
At the Humane Society of Port Jervis/Deerpark we are passionate about ensuring the protection and welfare of all animals in need. This is the legacy of our founder Robert Kleinstuber, who began the shelter in 1959 as a memorial to his beloved dog, Jeff.
Our mission today is to provide a high standard of humane care for animals; to foster an environment of respect, responsibility and compassion for all animals and those who seek our services; to reduce the population of homeless animals; and to nurture the bond between people and animals through leadership, education and community engagement.
We envision a community in which it is unacceptable to neglect, abuse or abandon animals; in which homeless or lost animals will be given refuge in a facility supported by the entire community; and that works collectively to ensure that every adoptable animal finds a lifelong home.

Come Meet Our Pets...
Our shelter is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday from 11am - 4pm. We can also be found at various local events and businesses who allow us to host adoption events!
Our Adoption Process...
We require all of our adopters to go through an application process that generally takes about 48 hours to complete. Veterinary references and homeowner/landlord information is requested. If there are other pets in the home, we recommend a meet and greet to assess compatibility. In home visits may be conducted in some situations. Adoption fees vary based on the animals.
