Eros is estimated to be between 5 and 6 years old, weighs 68 lbs., is calm, relaxed and good with other dogs. He is neutered and current on vaccines. About Kyra's Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Kyra's Rescue (KR) is a non-profit rescue made up of small group of friends and animal lovers in the Washington, D.C. metro area who volunteer to save homeless dogs primarily from Turkey. We have family and friends in Turkey who contact us to find homes in America for the dogs that have no hopes of finding anyone to adopt them. Turkish dog shelters are typically no-kill. On the face of it, this seems like a good thing, however, dogs who are not adopted are subject to 1 of 2 fates: they are either dumped in rural areas, left to fend for themselves against the harsh elements and acts of abuse and cruelty from street vagrants, the small and the young sometimes used as bait for fighting dogs, and to compete with wild dog packs for food and water; or, if not released, the dogs remain in grossly overcrowded, under resourced shelters receiving minimal care and attention, often with little food or water. We seek to bring these homeless, hopeless survivors to families in the United States that are willing to open their homes and hearts to these wonderful dogs. We ask potential adopters to complete an application and to give a small fee for each adoption. We want to ensure that each adopted dog goes to a home that truly wants to make them a part of their family. Kyra's Rescue is inspired by other rescue groups that save dogs in Turkey and find loving homes in the US.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Once they arrive, our dogs are placed in foster homes where they receive loving care by our foster families. A KR volunteer will schedule a one on one meet and greet with the dog and potential adopter.

Our Adoption Process...

Adoption fees vary by dog. Potential adopters are advised to submit an online adoption application through our website. Once we receive a favorable application for a particular dog, we will contact the applicant via email and phone. We respond within 7 days and, on our website and in an auto-reply email message, we advise applicants that if they have not heard back from us within the 7 day window, we were unable to match them to the dog they expressed interest in. Our decision to approve an adoption is always based on which home is the best fit for the particular dog. Many times we receive multiple favorable applications for the same dog In such cases, we will reach out to applicants who were not ultimately approved for the dog and ask if they wish us to retain their application for a potential future dog adoption. KR volunteers conduct home visits, personal and Vet reference checks of the potential adopter before the application can be approved. The KR adoption contract is executed at the time of the adoption. The contract expressly requires the adopter to contact KR should they find they are unable to keep the time at any time in the future. We allow for a 7 day adjustment period after which time the adoption is final.
