Ira's Story...
My feral mommy hid my siblings and I under a big old pine tree. A kind lady spotted us there and made sure our mommy had plenty to eat and kept an eye on us. However, we couldn’t stay under that tree forever and that tree was on a business property on a very busy road. As we got big enough that we started crawling out from under the tree to explore, the lady caring for us was getting worried that we would wander into the road and get hit by a car. We were also getting big enough that we were starting to eat on our own. Operation Fancy Free didn’t have space for us in foster care, but agreed that we needed to be in a safer location. Our caregiver agreed to take us to her house and foster us so OFF came and trapped us for her. They tried to trap our mommy too, but she saw them taking us away from the tree and she ran off and they haven’t seen her again. We miss our mommy, but our foster momma has been taking good care of us and socializing us.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ira, a Evans Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Evans, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Evans.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Evans already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Evans breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Evans paves the way for another one to be saved.
