Facts about SOPHIE

  • Breed: Poodle (Toy or Tea Cup)
  • Color: White
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less

YES! We have a HAPPY PINK TOY POODLE named “Sophie”. No, I did not color her pink. She came to us this way. By coloring her pink, her family found that Sophie received a LOT of attention from people when she was on her daily walk to the doggie park. It was thought that this helped Sophie overcome her reserved attitude towards new people.

Sophie is a creamy white, spayed Toy Poodle who is just 10 inches at the shoulders a healthy 10 pounds and was born June 10, 2007. This little Poodle girl just LOVES to go for walks. She will pull me while we go for our 1 miles walk while enjoying this beautiful weather.

This is a very easy going, cuddly, sweet, gentle (soft) little girl whose family could no longer afford to care for her. Sophie had been with her family and around other dogs (including a Standard Poodle) all her life. She is just perfectly fine with all of our Poodles.

Her teeth were recently cleaned, despite the fact that her x-rays showed infection and gum disease. So when Sophie came to us, we had to have all of her teeth removed; an expensive but required procedure.

Our Vet found that her K9s were not as serious as her other teeth, so they have remained in her mouth. As you can see in the pictures, this will help keep her tongue in her mouth, unlike little Ruby whose tongue now hangs out.

Sophie has a luxating patella in her right knee which causes her SOMETIMES to walk with a slight limp. NO problem as Sophie will go with me for our daily 1 mile walk. No surgery is recommended. She is just fine and presently being given a daily dose of Rejuvenate. We may be changing her to: “Natramax Dasuquin with MSM”

Sophie is a little shy at first but is running, jumping, going for walks and doing just fine! She will jump up onto our kitchen chair and watch what is going on. No problems with her eating a hard kibble and no special dog food (canned) is required.

Once Sophie gets to know you, this perfectly sweet little girl will capture your heart. She really wants and needs a loving family who is willing to keep and love her FOREVER MORE, even as she is getting older in age. Ahhhh… Isn’t she cute?

Since Lucky was adopted, Sophie has now moved into bed with us. A family who will allow her to sleep in bed with them would be nice. Please, no young children. Sophie is just fine with other gentle or older dogs.

To the right family, Ruby’s $250.00 adoption fee (plus $18.00 Minnesota state sales tax) will help cover just some of her Vet work (dental). We will also include some of her Vet records, a kennel, blanket, a new dog bed, leash, collar, a winter jacket and sweater, some yummy treats (which she will eat), various toys, and a bag of dog food.

Again, Sophie has been Vet check healthy, teeth are all gone (except the K9s), she has been wormed, all her shots are up to date, heart-worm tested negative and placed on a preventative, Home Again micro chipped and registered. She is just fine with other dogs.

About PICKET FENCE POODLE RESCUE

About Our Rescue Group...

PICKET FENCE POODLE RESCUE is a charitable and educational organization to rescue and supply Poodles with love, shelter, food, human companionship, medical care and spay-neuter services until permanent placement is secured into a pre-screened loving home, as long as the Poodle is not dangerous to humans or other dogs.

PICKET FENCE POODLE RESCUE will accept an adoptable Poodle who is either abandoned in a shelter, or purchased/rescued by any concerned person, or living with an owner who can no longer care for the Poodle. We also participate in rescue and placement of Poodles who are culled from Breeders or Puppy Mills.

PICKET FENCE POODLE RESCUE feels educating and informing the public about the commercial dog industry in America and about responsible pet ownership is very important as well as reviving the spirit of volunteerism in our great country.

PICKET FENCE POODLE RESCUE wishes to eliminate the euthanasia of any healthy, adoptable Poodles. We do not accept euthanasia as a means of population control for animals. We believe each Poodle's life is meaningful and each deserves a loving home. We take responsibility for each Poodle rescued and placed through Picket Fence Poodle Rescue for the rest of the dog's natural life.
