Does staying home in your pjs snuggled up under a warm blanket sound like the perfect day to you? Well me too! Let's just say that if cuddling were a sport, I would take home the first-place trophy! I'm looking for the one. You know, that special someone that the first time we lock eyes we will both know it's meant to be. Nothing else in the world will matter as long as I've got you and you've got me and only me. I'm not the type of girl to share... but don't worry, I promise to give you so much love that you won't ever need any other furry companions. I'm a low-key girl that doesn't require a lot of maintenance or exercise. So as long as I've got you to love on and a yard with a sturdy fence to keep me safe while chasing my tennis ball I'm the happiest girl you could imagine! Don't let this beautiful face of mine fool you. I've got brains too! You see, I'm a long-term resident here at the shelter so my crate and obedience skills are top notch. I've been practicing daily with my friends at the shelter for a while now so you'll never have to ask anything of me twice! I know what you're thinking, could it get any better? Well stop on by WCGHS to meet me and find out for yourself, I promise to not disappoint! Kira is an 8 year old, 60 pound American Staffordshire Terrier. Her adoption includes current vaccinations, spay, microchip, free veterinary exam, food sample, treats, leash, collar and toys. Her adoption fee has been prepaid by a generous donor.

About West Columbia Gorge Humane Society

About Our Shelter...

West Columbia Gorge Humane Society (WCGHS) is an independent, 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill animal shelter in Washougal, Washington. Established in 1994, our programs and services are carried out by a mostly volunteer staff dedicated to caring for animals and finding them forever homes. We operate both a cat shelter and a dog shelter, as well as an extensive foster home program and other programs to support animals in the local community.

West Columbia Gorge Humane Society aims to eliminate unnecessary euthanasia of healthy or treatable companion animals in the community and find them permanent, loving homes.

Our intent is to make Clark County the first no-kill county in the State of Washington. We plan to accomplish this through implementing low cost spay and neuter clinics, Trap/Neuter/Release (TNR) of feral cat colonies, and by working in conjunction with our fellow shelters to benefit all animals in the community.

Our Adoption Process...

ADOPTION CRITERIA:

Be 18 years of age or older and have a valid photo ID.

Be able to verify with your landlord that you may have the pet you are considering if you are renting or provide proof that you own your own home through a property tax bill or through the County Assessor’s Office.

Have all family members, or roommates in the household, agree to meet the pet prior to an adoption being approved.

Meet any additional requirements for the specific pet you are interested in adopting.

ADOPTION PROCESS:

Potential adopters complete WCGHS Adoption Application.

Adoption Ambassador reviews application and a phone or in-person interview is conducted.

A home visit is made by WCGHS personnel to verify that the home meets the pet’s needs.

Once an adopter is approved and the adoption fee is paid, a time is scheduled for the pet to leave the shelter and to be welcomed into their new, loving home!
