Geoffrey's Story...
Geoffrey is a 3 year old, 18lb Havanese/Lhasa Apso.

Geoffrey was found wandering the streets of Houston TX. He was so matted they couldn't even tell what breed he was, or what gender. Our rescue quickly took Geoffrey in and found him a foster was willing to help him to become a loved and happy dog again. We quickly shaved him and removed over 50 ticks from his back and ears. As you can see from his picture, Geoffrey is starting to feel like a normal dog again. Unfortunately, since he was clearly on the streets for a while, he is heart worm positive. Luckily heart worm is 100% treatable and our rescue is willing to pay for the treatment. Once the treatment is done, Geoffrey will no longer have heart worm and he will be 100% healthy!

Geoffrey's foster loves him so much and has nothing but great things to say about him. He is the biggest snuggle bug, and if he had his way, he would be in a home where someone can spend their time snuggling and loving on him. Now that he is already starting to feel better he is enjoying his toys and and walks. He gets a little nervous when it's time to put his harness on, but he LOVES to go for walks and is great on a leash. Geoffrey gets along great with other dogs and people. We do feel that older kids would be better for him because he gets a little overwhelmed when theres a lot of commotion. We envision Geoffrey going into a patient, calm home with someone who has lots of time to spend with him and someone who really wants a snuggle/lap buddy. Once he is all better we think he would also be a great hiking buddy or walking buddy.

**Geoffrey has been known to nip when he is nervous or when someone comes on too strongly (forcing their face in his face). Geoffrey really needs a patient family who can work with his anxieties and behavior. We are willing to contribute financially to any training Geoffrey may get. 99% of the time Geoffrey is great, and as long as he has a patient family who does not force themselves on him he will be super gentle, playful, and loving, with no issues as long as he is given time.

Geoffrey is a non-low shedding dog and will need regular grooming appointments to keep him looking handsome and feeling good! Once his hair grows out he will be such a beautiful and fluffy dog!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Geoffrey, a Boulder Havanese/Lhasa Apso dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Havanese/Lhasa Apso for sale in Boulder, or seeking a Havanese/Lhasa Apso dog from a breeder in Boulder.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Boulder already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Boulder breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Havanese/Lhasa Apso breeders who help with Havanese/Lhasa Apso rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Boulder paves the way for another one to be saved.
