Carrie's Story...
AVAILABLE 09-15-16 A kind lady found this sweet dog walking down a country road in Camden and brought her to the Shelter for safe keeping until either her family came to get her or she was adopted by a new loving family. No one has called or come looking for her so now she's available for adoption. Carrie enjoys her leash walks here at the Shelter. She readily climbs the steps and sits with her walker on one of our benches. She tested negative for heart worms, has been vaccinated and will be spayed at adoption. Please come to the Shelter in Elizabeth City and meet sweet Carrie - you might decide to add her to your family.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Carrie, a Elizabeth City Australian Shepherd dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Shepherd for sale in Elizabeth City, or seeking a Australian Shepherd dog from a breeder in Elizabeth City.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Elizabeth City already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Elizabeth City breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Shepherd breeders who help with Australian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Elizabeth City paves the way for another one to be saved.
