Clancey a large, white with chocolate party pom was rescued from a puppy mill in December of 2015. He was a neurotic mess and tested positive for heartworms. From the start he has been desperate to get as much human attention and interaction as possible. He is more calm now but still can be easily escalated in to full blown hysteria if the interaction is too boisterous. Therefore, he will do better with a more experienced owner that knows how to interact calmly with him. He LOVES to go for walks on a leash but he still gets over stimulated when riding in a car and his GI tract goes in to overdrive. Clancey is being treated for heartworms using a protocol developed at LSU using the antibiotic doxycycline and is doing great with it. He is all most finished with it and if adopted before completion, the doxycycline will be sent with him to his new home. Clancey’s date of birth is 3/17/14. Shortly after his rescue he was neutered, had a dental cleaning, and brought up to date on vaccinations including a Bordatella for kennel cough. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application.
You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers.
After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home.
Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.
