Hi, my name is Hazelnut.  I'm a 3 year old Shepherd mix who came from a high kill shelter in rural Missouri.  My foster family got a surprise when they met me as I was getting ready to have puppies!  I had 5 beautiful babies, but now that they have their own families, I'd like to find my forever family.  I'm a total lovebug and love snuggling on my foster mom's lap.  I love to play with other dogs.  I am a rough and tumble player, so I'd love to have a brother or sister dog with a similar play style.  I am house and kennel trained and I walk beautifully on a leash.  My foster parents think I'm really smart!  I know sit and I'm learning stay, wait, and also how to fetch.  Besides people and dogs, toys are my favorite thing!  My foster parents have found out that Kong Xtreme toys work best since I do love to chew on my toys (though I've been good about not chewing on things that aren't toys).  I would love a family of my very own, won't you please pick me?

Approximate Birthdate:  Aug. 2013

Adoption Fee: $150.00

TARA's adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm and flea prevention, and deworming.  TARA's pets are all eligible for a  two week trial  .

Due to the fact that many of our dogs come from the local city shelters, we do not know the background of many of them and therefore cannot always guarantee age or breed.  Size is subjective but we use the following guidelines: Small 1-20 pounds, Med 20-50 pounds, Large 50-80 pounds, Extra Large over 80 pounds.
